HOW OUR TRANSPORT SERVICES CAN SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS OPERATIONS

HOW OUR TRANSPORT SERVICES CAN SUPPORT YOUR BUSINESS OPERATIONS

In addition to our renowned warehousing operations, Carlton Forest Group, also has a thriving transport division.

James Brindley, Head of Transport, explains some of the services on offer, and how its team creates tailored solutions to support a wide variety of business needs.

About us

We’ve got a dedicated fleet at Carlton Forest Group and a network of over 100 vehicles at our disposal. This ranges from our 40 ft articulated lorries to small vans ideal for parcel and one-pallet jobs.

This depth of vehicle type is only usurped by our expertise in working with our customers to provide a cost-effective, agile logistics solution.

Perhaps the beauty of our range of services is the ability it gives to our customers to choose the services and support they need. And, with four warehouses located across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire businesses can choose from a range of third-party logistics services as well should they be required.

Here are some examples of the types of transport services that we offer and remember; they can all be tailored to suit our individual requirements, even when those requirements are fluid.

Full or part-load haulage

For many customers, we simply offer a full or part-load haulage service. We can collect the goods from the point of storage or manufacture (indeed, that may well be one of our four warehouses) and take the goods to onward delivery destinations. This can be as a one-off, to support peaks in demand, or perhaps vehicles that are off the road, to a long-term transport solution where our team becomes your haulage and transport partner. Furthermore, for complete peace of mind, all our vehicles are tracked by live satellite via our Advanced Transport Management System (TMS).

Express same-day service

We understand that sometimes something must be delivered quickly, and it has to be done there and then. To help customers who experience this type of demand, we offer a range of vehicles to suit a wide variety of product size and type to ensure the right vehicle is chosen to carry out the job.

Pallet Network Service

This service supports those businesses with either next-day, 48-hour, or 72-hour consignment and can cover multiple, quarter, half, or full pallet loads. It gives an incredible level of flexibility to support fluctuations in demand, or for businesses where demand cannot be accurately predicted.

Container Cross Docking

Our experienced logistics team can collect containers from port, empty (de-stuff) them, palletise the goods and complete an inventory, store those goods, ship them to their final destination, and return the container to port.

This can support businesses with a streamlined service that negates the need for them to have their own container services within their business operations. It can be the most cost-effective way of dealing with getting stock from port and to retail outlets, warehouses, or end users, and leaves the complex paperwork to professionals who are experienced and have the correct knowledge.

Hazardous Goods Transportation

We have the necessary accreditation to facilitate the transportation of Hazardous Goods. We have ADR, which is the name of a European treaty regarding the transportation of dangerous goods and encompasses all the regulations pertaining to packaging, securing of loads, and the correct labeling of those dangerous goods.

The transport service team at Carlton Forest Group operates from its Bawtry Park headquarters, where one of the four warehouses currently operated by the company is also located, and where its COMAH site is also located.

Choosing the right transport partner

It is important to explore the details of what a transport partner can provide you with so that you are assured of a service that is tailored to your business requirements.

Make sure you:

  • Establish that they have the right capabilities to meet your needs
  • Discuss the efficiencies and successes that they already deliver that mirror your requirements
  • Ascertain there are open lines of communication and information transparency

Moving goods through the supply chain may seem very straightforward, however choosing the wrong haulage and transport services partner can be costly, inconvenient, and have a negative impact on your business performance and reputation.

James is ably assisted by Chris Holleley, Transport Manager and Carlton Forest Group is a proud member of Road Haulage Association (RHA)
